New Products on Store
The EEW Nano 2.1 was released in mid-September, and I’ve already received a lot of overwhelmingly positive feedback! It’s incredibly rewarding to hear that the work that went into this update is paying off.
I want to emphasize that earlier versions of the EEW Nano continue to work well. The reason I release updates like the 2.1 isn’t because the older models are obsolete, but because I’m constantly listening to feedback from thousands of spinners and looking for ways to make each version a little better. While spending time refining existing products isn’t always the most profitable choice (I could focus on launching entirely new tools), I strongly believe that when I see opportunities to improve, I should take them.
Here are the new products that arrived in the store this September:
The EEW Nano 2.1 was released in my store in the middle of September. I’ve been getting a lot of feedback and it is overwhelmingly positive. So great to hear all the hard work I put into this update is paying off. I just want to state that the old versions of the EEW Nano continue to work well. The reason I release updates like this is I see feedback from thousands of people and get ideas on how to make my eSpinners even better. So I will make a new, better version. While this isn’t necessarily the most profitable way to spend my time (I could be working on totally new products that would likely sell better) I feel strongly that when I can improve items that I should do that.

EEW Nano 3D Printable Files
I released these free 3D printable files for the EEW Nano 2.1.
Many of these parts also work with the EEW Nano 2.0 and 1.x, and each file is clearly labeled for compatibility. If you don’t have access to a 3D printer, I put together a guide for options to getting these parts made here.
EEW Yarn Counter 2
This video shows the improvements I’ve made to the EEW Yarn Counter 2. The main changes are:
- Magnetic sensors for more reliable disk rotation
- Rotating disk has texture added to reduce yarn slip
- Improved clamp
- New yarn guides to reduce tangles
The Night My Store Got Hacked
Last Friday night, I went to bed thinking everything with my website was running smoothly. By Saturday morning, I woke up to find that a cybercriminal had set up shop on my server. No data was leaked so don’t worry about that.
They were running what’s called a “credit card testing attack.” Imagine someone has a long list of stolen credit card numbers. Most of them don’t work anymore. So they try each one on small websites like mine until they find the few that still work. Then, they sell those “good” cards to someone else.
Even though I already had some defenses in place, this attack was on a bigger scale than anything I’d seen before. In just five hours, nearly 10,000 fake orders were attempted on my site. About 45 of them actually went through. I spent the next day cleaning up the mess, refunding anything suspicious, and strengthening my protections.
The attacker used a few computers in Canada to run the scam, but those machines were almost certainly hacked. Meaning the actual owners had no idea. Unfortunately, that makes tracking the real culprit very difficult.
The silver lining? While hardening my security, I also optimized the server. The result: my website is now running faster than it ever has. So although it cost me a day of lost work, at least something good came out of it.
Cybercrime is, sadly, a common headache for small businesses like mine. But I caught it quickly, handled it thoroughly, and learned a lot in the process. Next time, I suspect the bad guys move along to easier targets.
