NY Sheep and Wool Festival

This past month, my wife and I were vendors at one of the biggest fiber festivals on the East Coast, and it was amazing! The weather was perfect, and we loved meeting so many of you in person. Hearing your stories, seeing your projects, and getting direct feedback is always the highlight of these events.

The number one request we heard was for a drum carder. Don’t worry, it’s coming! This will be my next major new product after the EEW Fold. I’m taking my time to make sure it’s truly amazing, and I’m confident the final version will be a big step fordward from what’s currently out there. I hope to share a new prototype video in a few months.

We also had great conversations with several fiber shops interested in carrying our tools.

One of the biggest surprises of the weekend was meeting two people who made excellent arguments for a 3D printed eSpinner. That idea was already on my “someday” list, but their enthusiasm bumped it up a few notches! It’s still just a maybe someday, but I love the concept.  A low cost kit with 3D printer files so anyone could customize their own spinner. Of course, open-source projects like that require extra support, and I want to make sure I can do it right before launching something like this.

The sales at the festival were also amazing, but it was mostly an inspiring/energizing weekend.  I’m more excited than ever about what’s coming next for Dreaming Robots!

EEW Fold Update

The EEW Fold is now finalized, and I’m in the process of ordering parts – lots and lots of parts! I’m still on track to ship all Kickstarter orders in March, with general availability in my store shortly after. I’m placing a large order to ensure there’s plenty of stock for everyone who wants one.

Logo Updates

After 10 years with the same logos, I decided it was time for a refresh.  Something that better reflects what Dreaming Robots and Electric Eel Wheel has become. This summer, while hiking across Spain, I met a talented graphic designer who helped me develop these new designs.

My goal was to preserve the spirit of the original logos so they’d still feel familiar, but to simplify them.  Just like I strive to do with all my fiber tools. Every product I design focuses on simplicity, from the mechanics inside to the packaging outside. Even the cardboard boxes for my eSpinners are designed to be both elegant and functional – recyclable, minimalist, and sturdy enough to ship directly without extra packaging.

Engineering, simplicity and elegance are at the heart of everything I make, and I wanted my new logos to reflect that.  I expect these new logos to slowly roll out to the web and future packaging.
