Sectional Bobbins
These custom-designed sectional bobbins for the EEW 6.x let you spin small amounts of different singles onto a single bobbin. Check out this video for a an explaination on how they work. You can download the free 3D printable files from my Printables page, or if you’d prefer to have them printed for you, I’ve created this page that explains those options.
A huge thanks to Kathryn at CraftMeHappy (check out her site since there are lots of interesting blog posts there) who showed me a version she had done earlier and I tried to improve on her ideas.
I’ve also been working on the EEW Fold and EEW Drum Carder projects, but there isnt’ any milestone worth sharing about those this month.
Hiking the Camino
This month’s update is a little shorter because I’m taking about five weeks off this summer to hike the Camino Francés. A 500-mile pilgrimage across Spain. I’m incredibly excited for this adventure! Long hikes like this help recharge my energy and creativity, and I always come back with fresh ideas and renewed focus for Dreaming Robots.
I’m deeply grateful to my amazing wife, Emily, and our daughter for fully supporting this journey. They’ll be spending the time with family in Iowa, which just so happens to be one of their favorite places so everyone gets a bit of fun this summer. And the best part? Emily will be flying out to join me for the final 100 kilometers of the trek.
While I’ve done a few two-week hikes before, this will be my longest yet. I love the rhythm of hiking hard during the day and then connecting with fellow travelers in beautiful, unique places each evening. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience.
